The Public Holidays of Chinese New Year
Things that are associated with Chinese New Year... Ba guas, Ang Baos, Red, Chinatown... And gambling. Throughout the 23 (or 24?) years of my "no-life" life, this year proved to be the most exciting and stressful Chinese New Year.
My first time as a banker(Zhng Gei) and my first time playing mahjong at rates 5 times my usual rate "-_-.
1 "tai" - 2 bucks
5 "tai"s - 32 bucks
Touch Yourself - Additional 3 bucks (It means Zi Mo, you pervert)
Ping Hu - 20 bucks
Animal and Flower Bite - 3 and 6 bucks (Secretly bite more money)
2nd time as Zhng Gei and also have to be part time nanny. Only got the younger cousins and yan-yi (my smallest auntie) playing. I love kids but one of them actually got into my Dislike list!!(His brother is my fav though) Must tell his mum to teach him some manners or maybe telling his Lao Da (another cousin) would be more useful. Haha... Ah Ping (my brother's small name) even got a headache from all their noises. 沉默是金 is best applicable in this situation. Gina even said during a moment of silence
Wahh Nan De.. Must shuffle longer...
In short, Day 2 is full of noises, headache and money parting. (For me, Ah Ping and Gina)
According to my aunties, the reason why they let their children engage this random game of blackjack is
They can improve on their maths by counting mahz
Haha... Ace can mean 1,10 or 11 so they may think these 3 numbers are interchangable. So 1+1=2, 11, 12, 20, 21 or 22 or ban ban... Haha
Johan threw a temper when Ah Di told him to take the card and he lost. He's abit spoilt but he's my 2nd fav cousin so feel so sad to see him hiding one corner playing his gameboy. Kids shouldn't be sad!
Xiang Xiang was quiet as usual and my third auntie got him lively by giving him a ball made from... Mahjong paper. "-_-
He played so happily with the ball and even took it home. According to his mum, this new treasure will serve its purpose for at least a few days. "-____- Kids are soooo innocent and navie... Haha...
Day 3
Supposed to go Tracy's house to bai nian so took Bus 59 to Toa Payoh to meet Bob and Sonia. Took a cab down to Tracy's house and we tried calling Zhihong but he din answer. Then Bob went to the wrong house shouting Tracy's name and Sonia stopped him by saying
Tracy's house where got baby's clothes hanging outside one?
We started the mahjong session almost immediately after we were let into the house and got introduced to Tracy's boyfriend. The two couple shared one seat and since there's not enough people, Ah Ping and I each took one seat. This proved to be a BAD BAD decision. Played one round and Ah Ping did not even win ONCE! Ok once but Bob was playing for him.. Haha I know he's lousy but not THAT lousy what... My winnings had to be offset against his loss so overall he lost 3 bucks. It's like winning the money in form, not in substance... Argghh..
If anyone knows the detailed calculation of 30c 60c rounded up, please teach me. Still quite puzzled over it. After that, we went to take bus to Paya Lebar MRT to wait for Gina's car to fetch us eat Tian Ji Zhou at Geylang lorong 7. When getting on the bus and scanning the card, the card reader sounded once den di di di(irritating error sound).
Bus Driver: (looks at me) Scan again
Me: (Remembering) Ohh, I got two cards in my wallet. Then just now got the beep sound already and I saw the green light.
Bus Driver: Just scan the card again
Me: (Taking out my student pass to scan. No sound and the screen show entry ok)..... The screen say ok
It was lucky that I know which card had been scanned. (cos I just topped up my student pass and I remembered the amount on the card) If not, I will be paying two times for the trip! They should have a system to detect it, not try make passenagers pay again. Ok, not practical but still..... Haha. I think I will sure flare up if I have to scan both cards for the trip.
Now it's only Day 4 of CNY and things have started to pile up - AB311 readings, stimulation game (Got more complaints but that's till next time), presentations, competitor analysis, finishing off the goodies...
Good times always pass by fast but is time that has just passed good?
